SUNSHINE

1-12-23 by dave

It was a bright day of sunshine and The Faithful made a formidable attendance showing for the Freshness that was waiting for them. The Tram and Gad Chairs started without delay, but the Peruvian Side of the hill was delayed as mitigation efforts continued. When the opening happened there was an exuberant push for the goods, which were soft and cold but dense. Turning was like frosting a cake with a paper knife. It felt so floaty and buoyant that you could just feel that full platform engagement in each turn.

Mark Herath feeling the float on Mach Schnell.
Blair was keeping a tight line to keep the flow going straight and powerful.
Kevin Canton coming in hot and keeping the power on full.

Hoots and hollers could be heard echoing in the Gulch as The Faithful got into the steep and deep sections that had been waiting. They were not disappointed. Tomorrow, look for the skied out sections to have stiffened up a bit, more lines to be opening as mitigation is complete, and, perhaps, Mineral Basin. We’ll have to see. Expect continued heavy traffic as the holiday weekend gets into full effect.

Mineral Basin looking sumptuous and ready for prime time.

I expect visibility to be good again tomorrow, but there may be some high clouds that may cause some variations. See you for the continued powder sessions. Dial it up, Dial it in!!
