Not a moment too soon, the hill was visited by some fresh snow which came in fast and furious in those first morning hours. I hit the parking lot at 8:00AM when the storm was just unloading. By the time First Tram left the dock, there was a nice accumulation on the hill, with some big wind on the peak and very marginal visibility. The morning crew moved into the abyss of Mineral Basin where 4 to 5 Inches of high density, cold, and consistent Essence covered the dance floor. Of course, visibility was a serious challenge in the white out conditions, but the smooth Groomers provided the consistency that made those runs a treat. The Sun did make a brief break out appearance after about 45 minutes out in the back when the clouds parted like heaven. That was a treat. On the front of the hill, the high density was sticking to the old layer, with the low angle runs offering the best feel. Here is a shot I took yesterday of the East Twin before all the new snow moved in. Bright and Blue!!The forecast does not include overnight accumulation, but snow will build in during the day. Be sure to dress for weather. The Groomers will be really creamy, as the new product will be tilled into the mat, making those lines extra special carvalicious for the morning session. The off trail will be much improved as the new snow is cushioning the old crust, however, that layer will still be in play and will require some close attention. It is a real treat to get some of the freshness, and the hill is in great shape going into this next cycle. Stay Frosty!!
