It was beautiful morning with very little traffic, great groomers on the upper mountain, and the opening of Powder Paradise, where the remaining goodness was surprisingly nice. Those North facing aspects still had cold snow that was only marginally affected by late Sun and wind from the day before. Here is a shot of my line out under the Sunday Cliffs, where the bottom layer was in play, but the consistency was sweet and unhurried. The recent snow had been tilled into the mat on all sides of the hill, offering a Winter like feel on the upper two thirds of the hill. On the lower third, the saturation level from yesterday had left the lines very glazed and firm, which needed a couple of hours to soften up. Mineral Basin was holding up for the first 2 hours, and following the Sun was the call, but the ambient temps were going to work out ahead of the rays. Tomorrow, look for the Groomers to be crispy on all exposures, though the High North might still hold the vestiges of cold, but the warmth of today really worked the product. It will be important to follow the Sun again, with Mineral going off first, as the Sun is predicted to shine out ahead of weather moving in for the rest of the week with an unsettled pattern. It was great to get the extra cover, and you will find pockets where the cold is still holding on, but it will take some looking. See you for the first Boat. Ciao!!
NICE REBOUND
