The Sun was out in full force this morning to greet the morning crew. Mineral Basin had been buffed nicely with the lower White Diamonds Downhill section once again offering the full down hill experience if you pointed it into the lower section of the hill. Where else can you throw down like that with impunity. I took full advantage of the ultra low traffic and pulled out my Wings for some super sonic flight sorties. The wind buffed areas out there are still offering some very nice steep smooth, which dumps out on the prepared smooth to put the run all together. Needless to say the warm temps., empty runs, and ultra stoke made the day extra special. There were some expressing the need for more snow, and I fully concur, but the full on rock and roll festival was just another kind of perfect without the crush for freshness. Tomorrow, look for the skies to be overcast as the next system begins to move in for a substantial installment later in the week. In the mean time the smooth will continue to hold up nicely, low traffic that makes the Tram ride up seem luxurious, and a hill that is set up to challenge the Franz Klammer in you. Continue to look far afield for the smooth wind slab sections that are back country quality. Here is a shot of the section beyond the Hillary Step which shows the smooth wind deposited goodness all along that exposure. Get there now as that will not be the case in the next few days. Enjoy the smooth and take advantage of a country club feel on the hill. IBBY!!!
