A beautiful day was on tap for the first day of the year, with smooth prepared lines on all sides of the hill for the Faithful who were on hand to bring in the New Year. Still smooth wind worked lines were to be found if you looked and there was plenty of room to move with the light traffic.
The weather dudes are promising a change in the weather pattern as the High Pressure system parked over us will move, opening the door for a series of storms to move in over this week and next. That is really great news for all of us who have been waiting for this change and have been working on our stamina for just such the occasion. Take these next couple of days to be scoping out the lines, features, high amplitude terrain sections, which will play an important roll as the hill gets covered. Until the new product gets worked in, those issues can be a real factor in line choice, and attack approach when it gets deep. I’ll be checking out the approaches to the High North aspects and long traverses for future reference going forward. Tomorrow, look for more Sun, smooth prepared lines and low traffic.
