There was serious accumulation for today’s festivities that we have been waiting to manifest. The very early arrivals at the area were some of the few who were ahead of a Canyon tie up involving a truck that had spun out, leaving those on deck to a fair stretch of time with the mountain all to themselves. Those few folks were able to get some amazingly deep lines on both sides of the hill , with The Cirque and the West facing aspects all filled in and totally bump free and super deep. It was a face shot festival that, combined with the low pressure, made for a dream day. The road opened up and it was on, with plenty left for everyone.

So, now the hill is primed and stocked up with continued accumulation into the early evening. Much of the hill did not open due to continuing mitigation efforts, so there is a lot still waiting for tomorrow. Bring your heavy artillery for tomorrow’s serving of uber deep offerings. Visibility will still be variable as more clouds are moving in ahead of the next impulse in the stream. We have all been waiting for days like this and they are here and just like we envisioned. Strong Work Folks!!! I am still holding my visualizations strong for a continuation of the storm stream. Anything can happen here as it could, has, and will produce events that transcend exaggeration. DEEP DEEPER DEEPEST!!

With another short accumulation overnight, the totals are adding up top to bottom. Those high winds of the previous days ahead of the front really began to fill in the aspects that have been lacking and taking care of the interference patterns that had built up. The overnight accumulation was a medium density graupel that offered amazing floatability and cushioned whatever static or rumble was still in play. Those wind buffed lines had that smooth feel that was delightful and predictable. It is so nice to have this kind of quality to begin the cycle and fill up those lines that will really shine with the next installment sitting on the doorstep.

Tomorrow, look for the next fast moving front to hit the Canyon in commuter time line, bringing very high winds, and snow intensity that will really add up fast. The hill is in great shape for the additional accumulation, so expect a great day of storm riding. Temps will be dropping with the frontal passage so dress for extreme weather, and chillax into the day. There is even more upstream just as we all visualized, and will manifest nicely as it will. The wind was nukin’ this morning, with gusts on the peak at well over 70 MPH and not much of a let up in between. The wind was so high in the AM that the chairs, with the exception of The Peruvian Chair were shut down. On the hill, the wind was moving the loose product and filling in the low spots and anywhere that could catch it. Those upper sections of the hill that had been getting smoothed in previous days was offering the goods, which were dry, silky, and a carve fest. I made a bee line to the Forklift to assess the options for the day. This cycle is looking very juicy, with a lot of dynamics and the forecast for the West Coast is coming up with big numbers that I hope will bring that kind of energy to The Front.

Tomorrow, look for storm conditions that will be challenging, but that is what we need to bring the Essence that will totally change the pack and conditions on the hill. Since that last snow that fell has been worked into the pack, much of the surface elements have changed with traffic and overnight winds, leaving a much improved substrate that this new installment will relegate to a footnote going forward. I am stoked at the prospect and thanks for contributing to the collective visualizations that have helped amplify the intention. Stay Frosty!!!

The Sun was filtered through a high cloud deck this morning, leaving excellent visibility, but very difficult flat light on the Northern aspects or sections that were in the shade. Great machine worked lines were on tap on all sides of the hill, which were trustworthy with smooth transitions that let you slide through the uncertainty. Wind buffed lines have begun to firm up, offering some well worth the effort conditions that keep you lapping those lines when you find them. Dry chalky feel is always a plus, and the soft sections feel like plush flannel underfoot. Delightful. Traffic was brisk, but the lines moved quickly making for good momentum to keep the stoke high.

Tomorrow, look for more changing weather as the next front is poised on the doorstep and will affect the visibility and drop the temps on arrival. I have been taking note of all those wind buffed lines and freshly tilled sections to hold in mind as new Essence is added to the pack. The hill is in great shape to move into this next cycle, which promises to really pack some good old Utah light on the hill. Keep those visualizations sharp. Keep it tight!!!

It was a cool sunny Saturday morning, with super clarity wall to wall, amazing machine worked lines on all sides of the hill, and expanded access to more goodness for those who were paying attention. That last installment really delivered just the right combination of density, structure and temperature to prepare the pack for the next incoming cycle lined up in the forecast. Boundary Bowl was opened, offering fresh, cold, untracked lines that were sumptuous and smooth.

Tomorrow, look for more great turning, though the clouds may be moving in ahead of the coming changes that are just upstream. Look for machine prepared goodness as this last accumulation has refreshed the corduroy with extra buffage. Those deep carved turns are just magic underfoot, and keep me stoked to dial in those G Force turns that feel so good. There are still soft lines out on those far North aspects for those with an adventurous spirit. Traffic should still be moderate, but the lines have been moving quite quickly. While it was foggy and cloudy in the Valley this morning, the sky was clearing up high, giving way to some wonderful sunshine. With the clouds sitting in the valley, it made for some heavenly cloud formations that were dreamy and constantly changing the view especially on the peak. The new installment had been worked into the prepared lines, making them feel luxurious underfoot and predictable with each turn. Some fresh lines had been prepared that I had been waiting on, which offered some back country like quality that made me slow down to extract the juice from each turn.

There was a fair push for the goods that were leftover this morning, but the uphill capacity worked well getting the Faithful spread out on the hill. It was nice to get walk on Trams as the day progressed. The off trail was offering much improved feel with the new cover, and folks were getting after it, enjoying the variety that was available wall to wall. Those far traverses where getting the attention they deserved. So nice to get the new cushion worked in, so that any additional accumulation will stick to the pack and increase the quality as we get more snow still upstream.

Tomorrow, look for more great sliding on all sides of the hill. There is still plenty of softness to find, and the machine worked lines will be offering amazing corduroy carpets to dial in the carve. The medium density product has gone a log way to cushioning the substrate. I feel a great stretch of deepness in the future. IBBY!!!

Little by little, inch by inch, the pack is coming back on line, delivering some soft turns that feel great underfoot. More of the hill opened today, which offered a much expanded selection of lines that have been calling for a long time now. This is where the scoping of the smooth lines, and “go to” sections comes in handy to stay ahead of the push. The Faithful were on deck early and ready to play, and they were not disappointed with the medium density Essence that added to yesterday’s installment, making the turns feel a lot softer. Mineral Basin opened as well, which added to the uphill capacity pulling the pressure off the Tram.

Tomorrow, look for some more residual accumulation as impulses keep flowing up from the Southwest. The machine worked lines will be offering smooth, soft, carpets of AHHHHH that will feel amazing after the firm conditions we have had. This cycle is looking promising as the Jet Stream is keeping moisture aimed in our direction, so anything can happen. Keep those visualizations going, it is working wonders. See the Line, BE the Line!!!

A fresh coating of Essence covered the dance floor for today’s festivities and The Faithful were on deck and ready to dance. There was a delay of opening, but the stoke was high and the medium density product was just what the doctor ordered to begin this cycle. The substrate was fully in play, but the new snow did cushion the ride, though the rumble and interference patters were still transmitting most of the full impact. The wind was brisk, and it was moving snow around and piling it up in the low hollows. Visibility was also marginal, and knowing the flow line for smooth was the ticket for keeping the ride consistent. Traffic lightened up as the crowd got spread out, and it was great to have more options on larger areas of the hill to expand the line selections.

Tomorrow, look for additional accumulation overnight as more impulse energy is coming up out of the Southwest. Today’s accumulation will have been worked into the pack and the additional medium density product will go a long way in softening the ride and adding some welcome cushion and extra dialablity to the lines. This is when all that scoping of the pack begins to pay off with knowing the fat lines that have held up even during this dry spell. I expect brisk traffic again with all the pent up stoke that is waiting to be unleashed. The pattern is looking interesting and positive for the week. Dial it up, Dial it in!!!

A thick cloud deck obscured the Sun this morning, but it was doing it’s best to drill a hole in the cover. The light was very flat, with the details lost, but as the deck thinned, more definition lit up from time to time. The accumulation from yesterday had been tilled into the prepared carpets that gave those early morning turns a bit more feel, though the overall sheen was quite slick. I was working on keeping a slow approach to the line and cautious deliberate steps with each turn. Mineral Basin was offering good prepared lines, but visibility there too was marginal and needed a cautious approach. The storm dynamics are still swirling around in the larger scope of things, but the major motion is looking good to me. Kind of a “you never know till it all goes off” type of feeling.

Tomorrow, look for more firm conditions on the hill, with continued visibility issues as the storm dynamics develop. Some precipitation may begin as the front moves around once again. Interesting pattern, and one that can produce some surprises. Use caution as the hill will be changing as wind and accumulation develop. Think Deep Thoughts!!!

The weather pattern flipped from high and dry to the beginning of a good cycle that will last all week. I am visualizing a long stretch of snow coming up that will become a legend in the future. Hold that thought!!! The snow started falling as the first Tram hit the peak, where the wind was working to add the fresh dust to the corduroy surfaces that were on tap for the opening bell. The light was very flat, so sticking close to the tree lines was key to getting that reflected light on the surface a bit. The grooming crew did a great job with the warm snow that was happening yesterday afternoon, making the traction and consistency very predictable and trustworthy. The snowfall became heavier, and the accumulation on the pack became very soft, and the medium density stuck to the old surface, making the cushion feel really nice underfoot.

Tomorrow, look for an unsettled day with the front doing some strange movements between warm and cold. I expect some variable precipitation, still marginal visibility, some overnight accumulation and a very interesting morning to be on deck to begin working the installment as it comes in. Check the run reports for the grooming efforts and get that smooth feel. Off trail is going to be firm with a lot of rumble, and interference patterns standing up in the lines. They will be tough to discern in the marginal visibility. I still expect rather light traffic, but there may be a bump in attendance with the new product. IBBY!!!
