Lake effect impulses continued to move across the Valley all day Tuesday, making their way up the Canyon. There seemed to be a foot at the bottom of the hill with 10” still piled up on the picnic tables on the Plaza. This is a shot of the accumulation, with Baldy in the background sporting a full covering of the first real installment. Snow making was in progress with the mid day temp still cold enough to keep them turning out the base support. As the Sun sets unsettled impulses still drift by, so more could be coming. Another storm is predicted for this week end, which will hopefully add to this beginning dump and get the ball really rolling. It was great seeing the coverage, the snow making efforts, an good friends getting their new skis from the shop in anticipation of a great season. Come to think of it, I need to get my sticks waxed up!!! Yeah, that’s the ticket!!! Ciao!!

REAL STORM
10-24-10
Today is day 2 of the current precipitation cycle that has left some snow above 9000′, with the snow predicted to drop to the Valley for Monday and Tuesday with substantial accumulation possible. I drove up to the Bird today to check it out finding hard rain at the Plaza and the snow level plainly visible. Alta’s base had snow sticking with a rain snow mix and a temp of 38 Degrees. Another storm is predicted for next Sunday giving this next stretch a very optimistic feeling. New snow making on the lower mountain has been installed to cover the consistently thin zones, giving the top to bottom coverage a real boost. That will really help reduce the rock dodging in those previously pesky areas. I will keep you posted as we get the goods, so stay tuned for updates as we get additional installments and move closer to opening. Get Ready!!! IBBY!!
JUST SAYIN’
10-21-10
Well, I have finally got fully back to the local COSMIC vicinity, which is close enough to get some pre season things done before the opener. I have retrieved the Communications Trailer from its high desert location and got it set up for the continuing down loads. While I have been gone, in the ongoing DARK MATTER WARS, I have had occasion to share tales of the ULTRA ESSENCE with many folks, from various STAR GROUPS, who are always eager to know what is this Powder of which I speak. I tell them to swing by and check it out for themselves, as it is no secret. Last year, I was pleasantly surprised to catch this GALACTIC FEDERATION ship discretely parked over Superior, cleverly disguised as as Lenticular formation. Of course, no one took any notice, except those of the cognoscenti, who do not dismiss a dead give away for a cloaked STAR SHIP. Word got back to me that they were mighty impressed with the display of elegant dance they witnessed and have been scouring the GALAXY for another planet with such ESSENCE. I’ll keep you posted if they find it. I just thought I would share that with you, so that if you happen to see an innocent looking cloud hovering about , go ahead and give them a hearty wave because they ARE checking it out!!! I am just saying!!! Ciao

10-10-10
10- 10- 10 is an auspicious day in many belief systems, and the gross of TIN FOIL, I got at Costco recently, has not stopped the down load of COSMIC data that has been hitting me hard as of late. I will not bore you with the details, though I have been given insight as to not hurry the process and let time be as time will be. It is always a temptation at this juncture to try and wish myself to opening day, but that would rob me of the build up moments, which always help me get focused and centered on the return to the “BIRD WORLD”. I took a drive up yesterday to see what I could see through the clouds that still hung low on the hill, and I got this brief first glimpse of the treasured return of the ESSENCE. Having flowed down stream last Spring, worked its Summer magic, it is now slowly working its way back into the sky to re apply itself for the next season. Did you ever stop to think about how all the millions of tons of precipitation that falls is floating lazily in the air above as if it weighed nothing, lighter than air? Amazing, lighter than air is how it feels when your blasting through it. So, here is the shot. Zoom in on it, and the high peaks have got the STUFF. Ciao!!
FULL CIRCLE
10-05-10
A cut off low pressure system is spinning continually in Nevada as I write this, as the cycle comes back around to the front side. A light dusting was observed in Baldy Bowl this morning, but it did not last. It is just a teaser, indicating the beginning of the return of the coming ski season. I have been hoping that an early snow will hold off, as so often, the flow shuts off until Christmas. When we keep that dry pattern, it usually changes abruptly into winter. It seems that the storm build up is much stronger and consistent. Keep checking here, as I will be keeping updates on the progress of of the snow pack as we get it going into the opener. Here is a shot of PIPELINE for you to focus on as you visualize the fat snow pack that we prefer. A solid collective image will work wonders to get a 100” base before Christmas. Oh Yes, that is a distinct possibility. I will be adding more content as I get started and there will be some new features that I am still working on for this season. I am presently fighting may way back through the dimensions
as the DARK MATTER WARS continue, though the demands of the DARK SIDE seem to be backing off. I have a full team working on the COMMUNICATIONS TRAILER to update it with better SUB SPACE receiving capabilities. That will be good. Keep the focus, do the cross training, and get ready to rock!!! Peace Out!!
SURF’S UP
9-06-10
After an entire summer of no surf on the East Coast, Labor Day could often be counted on to bring stellar waves driven by big low pressure systems off shore. Earl provided the power and the signals were hitting the breaks for all those who waited it out. This stretch, now through the season opener goes like lightning, so while it seems like it will never arrive, I know that in a nano second We will be, once again, blasting our way through the white essence with unmitigated audacity. Here is another shot of blastage courtesy of POWDER SHOTS from Mineral Basin. SOON!!!
LIGHT DUSTING
8-30-10
Here it is, Foot Ball season has just begun, there is a new snap in the air, and today a quick moving front rolled through leaving a tantalizing dusting on the high elevation peaks. It is time to drop into your best full tuck position and jam towards opening day. Here is a shot to get your head creating those visualizations. It wont be long now!!
WILD FLOWERS
8-01-10
Just a quick post from across the Cosmos to touch base. The Summer is in full swing and the Wild Flowers are really going off on the hill. It is a great time for a hike or just hanging out to catch the general vibe. Here are some shots that Jay, from POWDER SHOTS took recently as he was hiking about. It is interesting to view the hill sans snow to get an appreciation of what, exactly, we are skiing over. It also occurred to me that , with the exception of the stray rock hit to the bases, we really never touch the ground. We are suspended on that ephemeral layer that disappears as if it had never been there. Just a thought. I hope all is
going well with everyone and we are on the down hill side of the summer season, so the FUN ZONE is right around the corner. Ciao!!
HEAT’S ON
7-01-10
Hello everyone, I am back from the far reaches of the COSMOS to be here for the 4th of July, and while the snow pack did not quite make it to the end, there is still quite a bit of cover up high if you have the temerity to go hiking for it. I was checking out the Little Cottonwood creek the other day, and remembering the dumps we had and getting the goodness as it fell. I could not help reflecting that the recycling process was underway to get the moisture ready for next season. The Creek went off big, tearing out the bridge by the Power Plant, and stacking up large trees like cord wood. Quite a sight indeed. Here is a shot taken last season by the POWDER SHOTS folks somewhere out in Mineral Basin. Have a great summer and check back now and again for further updates, reflections, or BEST OF posts as I learn how to add content for next season. Ciao!!! Photo courtesy of POWDER SHOTS.
GREAT CORN
6-20-10
Saturday’s traffic had naturally smoothed the traffic lanes improving the ride in many areas. Again the cold overnight temps. put the heavy freeze on Regulator, which did not even begin to break until after 11:00 AM, after which it became the next place to be after Little Cloud had gotten too soft. The Road to Provo was, again, rasty in the early morning hours requiring extreme deceleration techniques to keep the speed down, as one caught edge would send you flying off the edge, and that would not be good. The Sun had lightly softened the first exposed shots providing perfect corn descents with very little traffic. As the morning progressed the faithful were getting after it to celebrate Father’s Day as well as the Last Day of the Ski Season for this year. I had a great time, but took the Tram down to be sure I got my last order of Power Spuds at the Forklift, AKA The Planetary Office, before the breakfast window closed. I have my priorities well established and today was no exception. On the Plaza Deck the Father’s day festivities were well under way with a great BBQ buffet and a great Blues Band for entertainment. For my self, I will be moving through the EVENT HORIZON for continued deployment in the ongoing DARK MATTER WARS. I will be no longer posting daily as it is difficult to get a direct link from untold light years distance, but I will filter through this year’s posts to give a BEST OF series to let you keep the VISUALIZATIONS going to give next season a kick in the WEATHER PATTERN. Thanks for SKIING!!! Powers.
