COLD FRONT

4-16-26 by dave

Clouds hung low over the peaks to start the day with blue skies in the Valley. The cold front was moving fast and the morning air was cold giving the pack no chance to break. Staying with the prepared lines was key as the off trail was difficult and variable. Traffic was very light and the visibility was fair until the front came through with bluster and wind. The accumulation began with intent, making the smooth lines feel softer and more dialable. Stormage continued all day long with varying degrees of intensity, but any new product is welcome. The storm clouds abated as cold clear air moved in as the day ended.

Snowbird legends Rick, Mike, Barry, and Hoppy keeping the dream alive and kickin’. So fun to share the joy with these guys!!

Tomorrow, look for a cold morning with some new accumulation, still light traffic, though it might bump up a touch with the new snow. Staying with the smooth machine worked lines will offer the best feel. I expect a serious freeze to the pack and not much in the way of a break. We’ll just have to see how it shakes out. Every little bit helps as we eek out these Spring days. Keep it real!!!
