TOP DOWN

It was warm enough this morning to ski with the top down, which was a real treat after those cold days. The new lift access was in operation today with the 8AM opening time, but I was sticking with my usual pattern of arrival at the locker and the Tram dock. The pack was not paying attention to the time of day. The Grooming Crew did a nice job smoothing the pack, which offered some sweet fresh corduroy lines that felt back country smooth, which caused me to slow the pace down and feel the subtle feeling of shaving the nap off the passes. They also found some stashes of snow to repair some of the thin sections of the exit lines off the mountain. Still, caution should be taken as conditions change rapidly later in the day.

Wispy signs in the sky signal the approach of another big low pressure that is on tap for the middle of the week that will bring some added accumulation to supplement the pack. April has always delivered!!

Tomorrow, look for even warmer temps, though I am sure there will be a freeze in the pack, so the break should begin around 11 AM. Mineral will be offering the first of the break, but the front of the hill will be offering the vacant lines that are so much fun first thing in the morning. Use care as you get on the lower aspects that are changing rapidly with the warming. Stay Frosty!!
