SLOW BRAKE

The pack froze overnight, but Mineral Basin was warming up fast and was offering the first of the break in the pack. The front side was very crisp to start out the day, however, the Peruvian Gulch was offering some very nice prepared lines that were just barely starting to soften at 9 AM, with some very firm lines on Anderson’s Hill and Chips face that required a very cautious approach, though there were hearty folks that pushed the line and just sent the lines with unmitigated audacity. As the Sun got high in the sky, the break began, softening the pack more and more with every run. It began to hit the sorbet zone around 11 AM and held a long hold on morphing into the slurpie zone until after 1 PM.

The perfect consistency you want to see in your off piste lines. Just the top inch offering that sweet soft break in the surface. As good as deep powder anyday IMHO!!

Tomorrow, look for some clouds and the beginning of the next storm energy to be moving in. I expect very firm conditions to start out the day and we’ll have to see how the temps move overnight and tomorrow. It could be a totally different situation as we move into the next couple of days that promise some additional accumulation. Be Round!!
